I've had naturally thin and prone-to-thinning hair since I was a teenager, so I've been using anti-hair loss shampoos.
Especially since I have oily skin, I've had difficulty using regular shampoos.
It's not simply that a strong cleansing power reduces hair loss, and not all anti-hair loss shampoos have strong cleansing power.
Usually, the volume is large and a small amount is used when washing hair, so it was difficult to switch products.
Nevertheless, I'll briefly introduce the shampoos I've used so far.
Amorepacific 'Ryo' (려)
▣ Usage Period: 3 years
The shampoo I used throughout my high school years.
I used the purple oily scalp anti-hair loss shampoo and didn't have any major complaints.
Actually, I don't remember there being many anti-hair loss shampoos back then.
TS Shampoo
▣ Usage Period: 3 years
I started using this shampoo in my 20s after hearing word-of-mouth, and it's still famous now.
I was satisfied because my hair didn't get oily for a long time after washing, but after using it for about 3 years, it started to get oily again. 😭
Since a friend of mine also mentioned the same thing, I suspect that the ingredients or something else might have changed during a reformulation.
Dr. Groot Addict Shampoo
▣ Usage Period: 5 years
It has a strong cleansing power, so my hair didn't get oily until late afternoon, which I liked.
It had a strong scent, and the lingering fragrance after washing was the longest among the shampoos I've used.
I think the lingering fragrance has reduced a bit after several reformulations.
I've used various scents as they were released, but I started to develop preferences, making it difficult to choose.
Mediol Shampoo
▣ Usage Period: 2 years
Although it's been reformulated now, I've used various scents in the past, like woody, citrus, and peach blossom.
It has good cleansing power, but the lingering fragrance isn't particularly long-lasting compared to when washing.
It comes in a large volume, so it took a long time to finish, but I was very satisfied with the limited edition spring scent, Peach Blossom.
It was released in the spring of 2022 and wasn't available in 2023, but it's been released again this year. (The shampoo itself is already sold out.😥)
I was satisfied with the product itself, but I got tired of the large volume and started looking for other products.
Kamoimo Hair Loss Professional Shampoo
▣ Usage Period: 1 year and 6 months
I started using this shampoo after someone recommended it, as it's made with naturally derived surfactants that are gentle enough for pregnant women.
It has a good cleansing power, so my hair didn't get oily until late in the afternoon.
It has a floral woody musk scent, which felt cozy and nice to use in the winter.
Especially, the Water Treatment sold alongside it truly lived up to its description of creating 'seaweed-like, bouncy hair' – the effect was immediate.
If you have oily hair due to having an oily scalp, you don't even need to use the treatment.
Labo H Shampoo
▣ Usage Period: 6 months
I used it with high expectations because it's a famous product, but unfortunately, my hair got oily quickly after using it.
I'll try a new product once I finish using this one.
- While I did notice a decrease in hair loss, I'm not sure about any dramatic effects. It feels more like I'm using it for preventive purposes.
- If you have an oily scalp and your hair gets oily easily, I recommend 'Kamimo Shampoo'!
As you'll realize when you use them, hair loss isn't something that can be cured with shampoo alone. 😅 I recommend using them as a supplementary measure.
