Little Heart 'Conophytum' is Shedding its Skin... A Baby is Being Born

Left pot 'Chukson' and right pot 'Heart Hoya'

I came across this plant online this year and got a couple of new pots because I found the heart shape so cute.

I named them "Little Love" and "Big Love" respectively.

Conophytum bilobum

It's also called "Living Stone" (축전).

It's a smallsucculentthat doesn't grow larger than 7cm.

Keeping it dryis the key, sowater it when the surface wrinkles.

Chukson' signaling that it needs water

After watering, pay extra attention toventilationto preventoverwatering.

Terracotta pots dry out quickly, soregular ceramic potsare recommended for succulents. Keep this in mind when repotting.

Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, sogentle morning and late afternoon sunlightis best.

The ideal temperature is 10-12 degrees Celsius. A space that's neither too cold nor too hot is best.

Inearly summerthey undergomolting (탈피)to increase their numbers. During molting, one plant can split into 2-3, increasing the number of individuals.

As these new offshoots grow, the outer leaves fall off, and new living stones take their place in a heart shape.

Chukson' that has started molting due to the early summer heat

It's only April, but the heat came early, and they've already started molting. I can see tiny offshoots through the cracks.

Never water them while they are molting. And don't try to peel off the old skin either. I'm just going to keep watching them.

Once the molting is complete, I'll water them once and then just mist them occasionally.

Duringsummerthey are dormant, sodon't water them.

Inautumnthey bloom with flowers resembling flames.I'm looking forward to seeing if they flower this year.
