The increasing number of multicultural families is adding diversity to our society.
However, at the same time, it has brought about a new challenge: a lack of understanding between people from different backgrounds.
KBS has undertaken a meaningful project to address this issue: publishing multicultural folktales.
Children can encounter stories from different cultures and naturally develop a sense of understanding and respect.
These books hold a particularly special meaning for children from multicultural families.
By reading stories from their parents' home countries in Korean, they can feel a sense of familiarity even within an unfamiliar culture.
‘Knock, Knock! Multicultural Folktales in Korean’ was published by KBS Gangtaewon Welfare Foundation in collaboration with the publishing house Asian Hub, with a portion of the prize money donated by winners of the KBS1TV program ‘Korean Language Showdown’.
KBS plans to expand Korean language and Korean culture education for children from multicultural families, starting with this project.
This is an effort to create a better future where people from diverse cultural backgrounds can understand and respect each other and live together harmoniously.
